"I like to break beautiful things and make broken things beautiful," says Marian Menge, and that applies just as much to his work in bands (Voltaire, Fischer-Z, Alpentines) as it does to this first instrumental solo album: A guitar album that doesn't sound like a guitar album, but on which only guitars are heard – and on which you can hear him fighting in search of beauty. And the beauty on this album has something both calm and unsettling, and, as so often, very fragile.
